It is not unusual to notice mild soreness or aching after an acupuncture treatment. Similar to how muscles may feel after exercise, your body can temporarily respond as it adapts to the treatment.
Many people describe the sensation as a dull ache, heaviness or mild bruised feeling around the treated area. Others feel pleasantly relaxed or slightly tired afterwards. These reactions are generally temporary and often improve within one or two days.
The intensity of any post-treatment soreness varies from person to person. Factors such as the condition being treated, your general health and your body's individual response all play a role.
If your symptoms improve gradually over the following days, this is often a normal part of the recovery process.
