How Can Stress Affect Sleep, Pain and Recovery?
Stress can affect both physical and emotional wellbeing. It may contribute to muscle tension, headaches, digestive symptoms, difficulty sleeping, tiredness and feeling less able to cope with discomfort.
Poor sleep can then make it harder to manage everyday demands and may affect how pain or other symptoms are experienced. Reducing stress does not mean that symptoms are “all in the mind”; it means recognising that physical health, sleep and emotional wellbeing can influence one another.
